Hong Gang Tian grew up in Beijing. Although Beijing is the biggest city now, when Tian was young the area was still very rural. In 1986, Tian graduated from the Central Academy of Art and Design, where he won numerous
honors and awards.
Most of Tian's paintings contain oceans, rivers, and lakes as part of their subject matter. His fascination with these bodies of water stemmed from the realization that they possessed raw power. Tian's works, marked by his 25 years of experience, have been displayed at exhibitions around the world.
